Kids are Awesome

Beautiful Tween

Yesterday, I was able to shoot a family that I had taken pictures of last year here in San Diego. This time, they brought their extended family. While it leads to less images of their children in their gallery, it also introduces me to some wonderful people that I wouldn't have a chance of meeting, as well as makes the whole experience even more fun and relaxed. This is a photo of the 12 year old niece of my clients. Stunning is an understatement. She was kind, considerate, respectful, and her momma says brilliant. I believe it. That sparkle in her eye comes from something deep within. I love my job. #blog

People You Meet at the Beach

I stayed after, really late, after a silhouette beach session, and while these fishermen were in a few of our shots, I didn't mind. I asked if they didn't mind if I took their picture. They agreed, and suddenly, almost by magic, a fish was hooked. It was so much fun watching him reel it in. I spoke with the younger fisherman, and found out that the gentleman was turning 80 this fall, and they wanted the pictures for his slide show. I was so happy to be able to provide some pictures for their slide show, but really wish I would have known earlier when my light was better. It was so dark by the time I started hanging out with them. Next time, I'm bringing my video light to the beach. I think that would have helped tremendously. Lesson learned, and I got amazing photos anyway. I'm hoping to catch them again one of these nights. It would be great. #blog

Blogging only on Google+

+Mike Elgan came up with a challenge for the month of August. Do do all of our blogging exclusively on Google+. I can handle that. This is a great place to be. Gives me an excuse to be more active…

Now for being wordy… and actually typing more than just a quick caption might be a bit tougher for me. I'm quite talkative in person, but I tend towards brevity online…

This will be a great experiment and challenge for me.

I better get my blogging fingers ready…. #blog

Underwater Bride

What a wonderful experience shooting with this model. I can't wait to get her underwater again. She told me that she hadn't stuck her face underwater in over 15 years. She was amazing! #blog

Something a little different

I really had fun with this underwater shoot. I got together with some local photographers to share my gear, and my experience. I think got a few friends hooked! We should have fun as the summer goes on.  I've shot this model before while she was pregnant, it was great to see her again and re-shoot her in the same dress. This pool was incredible. Such a great location to shoot. #blog

First Underwater of the Season

Started shooting again underwater. This image was only adjusted in LR. I haven't taken it into photoshop for "magic" yet. Looking forward to spending time editing, but I wanted to share a preview.   #blog

Underwater season is starting up for me

I'm getting together with a local friend to start shooting more underwater. We're inviting photographers from our local photo group to get together and try out underwater bags and housing to see if it is something they want to explore more. It should be fun to start to play with lights underwater. So far, I've just done natural light, and the sunken pool light. Waiting for the right time of day is key. Hopefully, I'll be able to capture some good images this summer without putting my ears underwater.

Should be a fun summer.

Torrey Pines Hike

Went for a walk today with a friend at the Torrey Pines State Park, here in San Diego. I've never been on the bluffs above. It was a blast. Looking forward to many more exciting days shooting up there! #blog

San Diego Fair

Just spent the morning re-editing photos for the San Diego Fair. This one I submitted in the category, "Game On".. No child was exposed to smoke in the making of this image… But, it was fun. Hopefully, the judges get my sense of humor. #blog
