Cheeseburger Cake with French Fries

Tonight, I made a cheeseburger cake for my brother in law. I’m starting to think that the reason I like photography so much is the same reason I like creating silly things like this. It is so much fun to create things, and to think on your feet, and well, to just have a sense of humor. French toast instead of french fries, and chocolate and lemon cake. The cheese and lettuce, I mixed liquid lemon jello and powdered sugar with a bit of butter. I needed it to be more, well, congealed, and I didn’t want to buy fondant. Sesame seeds are rice crispies.

To make the burger, you just take chocolate cake mix and split it into two 9in rounds for the hamburger before baking. I made a double by using both patties. The bun is just two cake mixes with 1.5 mixed in one 9in round.  and the other with 1/2 a batch. Chop off the top of the shorter round (use the rest for french fries) Chop off the bottom of the taller one to make the rounded top (use the remainder for french fries).  I put rice cereal on top with a dot of frosting to stick.

I cut the leftovers in the shape of fries, coated them in french toast mix (egg and a bit of milk, scrambled) and fried.

The ketchup is red icing, but next time, I’ll use raspberry filling.

To make the lettuce and cheese, I added 1/2 a packet of lemon jello to 1/2 a cup of boiling water. When it was dissolved, I added 1/2 a cup of butter, and powered sugar until it became a dough. You can add more liquid or more powdered sugar to get the texture of play-dough. I was able to then roll it out and shape it. It honestly wasn’t hard. The whole thing took me two-three hours from when I opened the cake box.

Okay, enough talking. I hate writing. I like taking and showing pictures. Here is the fun part! Everyone loving the cake! I love the look on my daughter’s face when she watches her uncle try to eat it!

P.S. if you’re on Pinterest and want to pin one of these pictures, don’t right click, but just click on the photo you like, and a pop up will appear with the image, and cool beans, I put a pin it button there…. Yes, I’m proud of myself.
