A hug

Tips for me to Remember when Meeting up with Other Photographers…

1. Arrive early (of course!)
2. Offer to buy the coffee…
3. Ask about their personal projects, and be genuinely engaged…
4. Follow up with a thank you text/e-mail note about the conversation.

(those are all obvious no brainers.) but the biggest one that I, personally must remember…
The most important one:
5. Order Half Caff! I'm still bouncing off the walls 4 hours later. :)

But it was a great meeting, and I'm jazzed about some projects I will be working on. Looking forward to building a new professional relationship and working my tail off!

Wow, I have never had a post go viral. It is pretty cool, but also such a strange feeling for a personal favorite photo of mine to be so publicly shared. Thank you +SmugMug for giving me the opportunity to share my my image with such a wide variety of people! #blog

I WON!

I just wanted to give a public shout out and THANK YOU to +SmugMug . There was a contest that was hosted by +Brian Matiash  who works for +onOne Software  (Love it!). The contest was to find an image of yours that you felt deserved its own SmugMug gallery, and why. This is what I wrote, "This one just reminds me that my daughters have the whole world in front of them, and that they are strong and can face that world. I have this image hanging in my living room, and it is the single image that I'm most proud of so far." I won the contest, and was given a year of SmugMug Business Plan for a year. I've been thrilled using SmugMug for the past year, and am thrilled to continue my business relationship with them. The customer service they provide is top notch. I'm happy having them host all my full sized client JPGs, and just love the service they provide. The interface, and the customization I have for my client side is just fantastic. I'm a very satisfied SmugMug user. (and thrilled to have won a year free). If you have any questions on why I love SmugMug, please feel free to ask! Thank you +Katherine Cheng, +Michael Bonocore and +Chris MacAskill for judging. It is a very difficult task and I appreciate your time and generosity. #blog

Procrastination

For a while, our sink has been leaking. My husband has been telling me to call the landlord. I've been delaying. Tonight. I went to use the sink, and and it started pouring water out from multiple places. Whoever installed our sink was a completely careless. It was leaking from ALL THREE holes. No wonder we couldn't isolate the leak. It was leaking everywhere. The soap dispenser was installed wrong, and leaked. The drain was installed poorly, and the garbage disposal screws fell out. I had to find the screws and tighten it. I had to remove the the soap dispenser, and go to the garage and grab the plug (I insisted the box was kept), and I had to reseal the sink drain. I'm a renter. I sure make things harder on myself. I could have just washed dishes in the bathtub and waited for the "handyman" to fix it in a few days,I'm bad at time management, and I'm not patient. Not a good combo.  Uggg. Dumb, dumb dumb. But at least I have a working sink. #blog

Death Valley Shot on Film in 2005 during the 100 year bloom

I was going through boxes today, and found a CD of images. The resolution was tiny, and for the life of me I can't find the negatives. (hoping to find them) But, I found this shot tucked away. We went to Death Valley in 2005 when they had the 100 year bloom. I've been staring at this image all day thinking what +Colby Brown or +Varina Patel and +Jay Patel would have done with it. Man, I hope I find the original negative and can get it properly scanned. If I can't find the negative, any advice on how to process it?  I have never printed such a small digital file before. Alexander S. Kunz  here was one of the other shots from that same morning. #blog

Fletcher Cove Family Photography Mini Session

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to go to the beach and spend some more time with this family. I ADORE this family. Yes, I know, all photographers say they adore every family, and can find something nice to say about everyone, but this family is funny, kind, and sweet, and have been with me since the beginning of my photography adventure. I know the kids, and I know just how to make them smile. They are clients, and friends. It makes editing even sweeter when you are editing to know how much your work is loved and appreciated. They are the best! And, I hope you love the pictures I captured of them at this time in their lives!
